Al Faruque – IEEE CEDA Ernest S. Kuh Early Career Award

CECS member and EECS Professor Mohammad Al Faruque has recently been awarded with the IEEE CEDA Ernest S. Kuh Early Career Award 2016 (http://ieee-ceda.org/awards/ernest-s-kuh-early-career).

This award honors an individual who has made innovative and substantial technical contributions to the area of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) in the early stages of his or her career. It is a highly competitive award, with contribution measured based on technical merit and creativity in performing research. It is also assessed based on the published record of the individual and the references accompanying the nomination.

Moreover, this award is equally available to contributors from both academic and industrial institutions.

This is the highest research award for a young researcher in the area of EDA from IEEE. Every year (except 2013 when this award was shared between two researchers from EPFL, Switzerland and IBM), only one person receives this award worldwide. This is the first time any faculty from the UC system has received this very prestigious award.
