One of the most urgent and daunting tasks of our time is providing quality health care in the face of increasing incidence of disease, aging populations, and soaring costs. The proliferation of lightweight and heterogeneous embedded systems holds the promise of revolutionizing the accessibility, quality, financing, and delivery of healthcare in much the same way that low-cost cellular phone technology dramatically changed telecommunications worldwide. However, significant research challenges must be addressed before this wireless health model can reach its full potential.

The talk will include an overview of various devices and systems under development at the UCLA Wireless Health Institute. Additionally, it will consider important research issues, including security and and data management.
