Overall, it's a step up from a cellular modem (no need to plug/unplug, etc). It also improves on previous generation cellular wireless routers with a rechargable battery (no need to plug it into an outlet) & is much tinier - apparently only as thick as 3 credit cards.
Of course, it's going to cost you $40/month for service just to check your email, etc; however, for the on the go techie w/o easily accessible internet access, this may be the accessory of year.]]>Consumer-level slow motion camera, woo hoo!

The Casio FX-1 is capable of snapping 60 6MP images a second & recording video at a whopping 1200 fps, albeit w/ a low quality resolution. For those who can't afford the $1000 price tag, Casio offers two lower-end models for the average consumer. This isn't the holy grail of cameras, but it's definitely one step in the right direction. What makes this little embedded device tick? Patrick Mannion writes an article for EE Times overviewing a dissambled iPhone - well, just to see who manufacturers what to compared with the previous model, but that's about as close to reverse engineering an iPhone I've seen yet.

Mike Barrick from Anritsu Corporation outlines a method to reduce costs of mobile phones through better testing and calibrating procedures. I found this article interesting and well laid out; his approach seems like it would work well on a larger more generic market as well.
