Reducing mobile phone costs through calibration & testing 
Although 3G networks for mobile devices have recently debuted, 4G networks on their way. With more functionality comes bigger prices, as many may have already noticed with the latest PDA/smartphones. New phones may be feature rich, but paying upwards of $500-600 encroaches on borderline ridiculous for many cosumers.

Mike Barrick from Anritsu Corporation outlines a method to reduce costs of mobile phones through better testing and calibrating procedures. I found this article interesting and well laid out; his approach seems like it would work well on a larger more generic market as well.
