Heydari Awarded $1M for Spinal Cord Injury Research

Heydari1Prof. Payam Heydari has received a Cyber-physical Systems Synergy award from the National Science  Foundation for his collaborative research titled “A Signal-Aware-Based Low-Power, Fully Human Implantable Brain-Computer Interface System to Restore Walking after Spinal Cord Injury.” This ground-breaking research focuses on implanting a cyber-physical system to bypass the spinal cord, enabling direct brain control of prostheses. The project combines efforts of CECS/EECS, BME and Neurology Dept. in collaboration with Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.

HeydariProf. Payam Heydari was invited to deliver a distinguished talk at the IEEE 57th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS 2014) held in Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas on August 3-6, 2014.    In his speech titled “Terahertz and Millimeter-Wave Frequency Generation and Synthesis in Silicon,”  Prof. Heydari presented an overview and comparative study of his recent research efforts which explored several circuit techniques and architectures leading to highly efficient frequency synthesis and signal generation in silicon. http://www.mwcas-2014.org/

Prof. Doemer received the Best Paper Award at DATE
