Judit Gir Benet at work

Judit Giró Benet, a junior researcher in CECS, has just been named the winner of the James Dyson International Award for her work on the Blue Box, an early breast cancer detection kit. Judit started this work as her graduation thesis in BME at the University of Barcelona. She joined MECPS, a joint Engineering-ICS program as a Balsells Fellow in 2019 and developed the Blue Box for her MECPS capstone project. She joined Prof. Fadi Kurdahi’s group in CECS as a junior researcher seeking to solidify this technology and bring it to the market through a startup company. This award will be of great help in achieving our quest to one day make breast cancer detection a ubiquitous home-based experience. Read here.
